A most productive afternoon: Elisabeth made most of a blue kirtle, Catalina has nearly finished her corset and cut out a farthingale, Caterine's Turkish is looking splendid, Karen's first pieces of tablet-weaving are gorgeous, and she's cut out a 16thC high-necked chemise. As usual, William and Katherina plotted.
Elisabeth cut out a new 16th century kirtle from blue linen, and adjusted the back of her Dorothea Sabina dress.
Maria decided to make some cushions with tassles on the corners, so Caterine taught everyone how to make tassles. She also decided to make a new 15th century dress with big sleeves out of green linen.
Eleanor brought her gambesin to refit through the back, but then made the happy discovery that it didn't need any adjusting, so did some flat felling for Maria.
Elisabeth is making great progress on her Dorothea Sabina dress. She's nearly finished the petticoat, and has begun cutting and fitting the bodice and sleeves, with Caterine's help. With luck (and lots of sewing) it will be wearable at St Catherine's Feast.
The rest of us worked on less exciting things: Eleanor felling seams, Marie naalbinding a hat and embroidering a tunic for Olaf, Katherina edging her arming cap, and William planning a new fencing suit.
Elisabeth has finished her first corset, and is now working on petticoat and sleeves in red silk. She hopes to have an entire late-16thC gown completed by December. Marie is working on a naalbinded hat; Eleanor is finishing seams on a shirt for her partner; and Caterine and Katherina cut out a kirtle for katherine (the alliteration comes free).
Elisabeth worked on her 16th century corset - nearly finished now; Caterine made a lovely brown velvet hat - this one full-sized; Eleanor finished her chemise; Emrys collected the blue silk thread for the braid he is making for his doublet (no excuses now!); Katherina and William de Cameron slacked off, and failed to persuade everyone else to play cards.
