Thank you to everyone who attended the Ball on Saturday - it was a great success (at least for me, and I hope for all of you).
Twenty adults and one toddler danced solidly from seven until nearly eleven, taking only a few short breaks to enjoy the delicious supper prepared by Christine Bess Duvaunt and Katherine of Glastonbury.
Here's a list of what we danced, possibly out of order, possibly incomplete, and certainly missing the many repeats of popular dances:
- Bassa Colonna
- Mixed Branles of Champagne
- Rostiboli Gioioso
- Gracca Amorosa
- Bella Gioiosa
- Ginevra
- Amoroso
- Anello
- Petit Riens
- Contentezza d'Amore
- Mimed Branles
- Washerwomen
- Pease
- Horses
- Ballo del Fiore
- Amoroso
- Lorrayne Almain
- Black Almain
- La Figlia di Guglielmino
- Chiara Stella
- Pungente Dardo
- Belfiore
- La Caccia d'Amore - the chase game
We were choosing from this list of dances (pdf).
It was a treat to have so many visitors, both from other Auckland Early Dance groups, and from Southron Gaard and Rowany. Thanks for coming - you made the evening special.
There are photos here (thanks, Anna, Christine and Eleanor!). Get in touch if you'd like me to direct you to instructions or music for any of the dances.
Weekly dance practice is on Thursday nights, as usual: five weeks to get ready for the ball on Saturday afternoon at the Bloth!
